Migration
What Happens to Your Data
Here's what we know about how your data will carry forward — and where we'll share more detail as the launch date approaches.
| What you have in legacy | What happens in APBnet™ |
|---|---|
| Bulletins | Migrated to APBnet™ format. Fields, narratives, and photos are preserved. |
| Agency settings & distribution groups | Carried forward and re-validated during agency setup. Your Program Admin will confirm settings during the onboarding process. |
| Address Book, including private groups | Migrated to APBnet™ Community Address Book — the expanded cross-agency directory. |
| User accounts | Accounts are set up in APBnet™ as part of the agency onboarding process. Your IT Admin and User Admin configure and enable accounts. Legacy accounts are automatically populated and new accounts can be added manually, through a bulk spreadsheet upload, or through SSO. |
| Bulletin attachments & PDFs | Preserved and accessible via legacy bulletin detail views during the read-only window (October 11–November 9, 2026). |
| Audit trail & activity logs | Legacy activity records are archived as part of the migration. A new audit trail starts in APBnet™ from July 20, 2026 forward. APBnet's audit logging is significantly more detailed than legacy. |
What “read-only” means
From October 11, 2026 through November 9, 2026, the legacy system remains accessible in read-only mode. During this window you can:
- ✓View bulletins in their original format
- ✓Search bulletin history
- ✓Download and export bulletins and attachments
You cannot create, edit, or distribute bulletins in legacy during this period. All new activity must go through APBnet™ from October 11 onward.
Legal holds, retention, and FOIA
If your agency has active legal holds, document retention requirements, or FOIA obligations that may be affected by the migration, contact us before August 10, 2026. The legacy system has more limited logging than APBnet™, and we want to understand your requirements early so we can handle your migration appropriately.
Email support@apbnet.org with your agency name and ORI.
