Migration FAQ
The questions we hear most, answered directly.
Timeline
When does my agency migrate?
Cutover Day is July 1, 2026. That's the date legacy APBnet switches to read-only and APBnet becomes the primary platform. Before that date, both systems run in parallel — you can use either one. Critical Reach will reach out to your agency well in advance with your specific setup timeline and onboarding window.
Can I still use legacy APBnet while APBnet is running?
Yes. Until Cutover Day (July 1, 2026), both systems run in parallel. You can create and search bulletins in either system. After July 1, legacy switches to read-only for 60 days — you can still view and download existing bulletins, but all new activity must happen in APBnet.
What happens on Cutover Day?
APBnet becomes the primary system for all new bulletin activity. Legacy APBnet switches to read-only. You can still access legacy bulletins through August 29, 2026, but you cannot create or edit anything there. Cutover Day is July 1, 2026.
Is there a way to try APBnet before Cutover Day without committing to it?
Yes — that's exactly what the parallel running phase is for. Both systems operate at the same time leading up to July 1. You can explore APBnet, verify your bulletins, and complete your onboarding workflow before any cutover occurs.
Your Data
Will all my bulletins be there when I log in to APBnet?
Yes. All bulletins are migrated to APBnet. Fields, narratives, and photos are preserved — bulletins are modernized to APBnet format, but nothing is stripped out. Your full bulletin history is searchable from day one.
Are audit logs and activity history preserved?
Legacy activity records are archived as part of the migration. APBnet's audit logging starts fresh from Cutover Day forward and is significantly more detailed than what was available in legacy. If you have questions about what's in the legacy archive, contact support@apbnet.org.
What if my agency has an active legal hold or FOIA request?
Contact us before your agency's migration date. The legacy system has more limited logging than APBnet, and we want to understand your requirements early so we can handle your migration appropriately. Email support@apbnet.org with your agency name and ORI.
Access & Accounts
How long can I access the legacy system after Cutover Day?
60 days. Legacy APBnet remains accessible in read-only mode from July 1 through August 29, 2026. After that, the legacy interface is decommissioned. All data that was migrated remains in APBnet.
What does read-only mean, specifically?
You can view, search, and download bulletins from legacy. You cannot create new bulletins, edit existing ones, or use legacy for any active operations. All new bulletin activity must happen in APBnet from Cutover Day forward.
Training & Support
Is there training available before we have to switch?
Yes — that's what this site is for. The Learn section has role-based getting-started guides, step-by-step how-to content, and a full glossary. We're publishing and updating guides as we get closer to Cutover Day. Start with the guide for your role.
Who sets up our agency account in APBnet?
Critical Reach handles the initial agency configuration. After that, your IT Admin completes the technical setup (allowed domains, authentication settings, IP allowlist), then your User Admin creates accounts for your team. See the How Agencies Get Started guide for the full sequence.
What if data looks wrong after the migration?
Contact support@apbnet.org. We'll investigate and correct it. The Validation Window — the period before Cutover Day when both systems run side-by-side — is specifically designed for this. Spot-check your bulletins and agency settings and report any issues before July 1.
