Migration
Migration Overview
Change is hard. We know that. Here's exactly what's happening, when, and what you need to do — so there are no surprises.
What's not changing
- ✓Over 1,000,000 bulletins — migrated and searchable from day one
- ✓Bulletin fields, narratives, and photos
- ✓Agency settings and distribution groups
- ✓The mission: faster, more effective law enforcement coordination
What's changing
- →A completely rebuilt web application — replacing the legacy .NET desktop app
- →A new agency onboarding sequence: IT Admin configures first, then User Admin enables your team
- →Individual user onboarding: each person completes a guided setup to configure their preferences
- →Eight new features: map search, curated subscriptions, bulletin layouts, and more
How the migration works
The transition runs in six phases. Cutover Day is July 1, 2026.
- 1Soft Launch — NextGen is live and running alongside legacy. Explore when you're ready — no pressure, no deadline.
- 2Agency Training Period — Training resources are open. IT Admin completes technical configuration; User Admin sets up your team.
- 3Validation Window — Both systems run side-by-side. Confirm your bulletins and settings migrated correctly.
- 4Cutover Day — July 1, 2026 — NextGen becomes primary. Legacy switches to read-only.
- 560-Day Legacy Access — Legacy stays accessible in read-only mode through August 29, 2026.
- 6Legacy Sunset — Legacy access ends. Everything you need is in NextGen.
A few things worth knowing upfront
- ✓No data loss. Bulletins, fields, narratives, and photos are preserved.
- ✓60 days of read-only legacy access after Cutover Day — nothing disappears overnight.
- ✓Support throughout. Questions? Email support@apbnet.org.
