Migration
Timeline & Phases
The migration runs in six phases. Cutover Day is July 1, 2026. Here's what happens in each phase — and what, if anything, you need to do.
Soft Launch
NowAPBnet is live and running in parallel with legacy APBnet. Both systems are fully operational. There is no cutover yet — no action required.
- Your agency can access APBnet now. Bulletins are migrated and searchable.
- Legacy APBnet continues to operate normally. Nothing about your current workflow needs to change during this phase.
- This is your window to explore at your own pace.
What you should do: No action required. When you're ready, begin your agency's onboarding setup to get ahead of the training phase.
Agency Training Period
Before July 1, 2026Training resources are open and agencies are expected to complete role-based onboarding before Cutover Day. Two-step configuration: IT Admin completes technical setup, then User Admin enables the team.
- IT Admin configures allowed account domains, SSO settings, IP allowlist, and other technical prerequisites — this must be completed before User Admin can enable accounts.
- User Admin creates accounts for all agency personnel and sends invitations.
- Each user completes their own onboarding workflow: password setup and notification preferences.
What you should do: IT Admin: complete technical configuration first. User Admin: create and invite your team. Each user: complete the guided onboarding workflow before Cutover Day.
Validation Window
In the weeks before July 1, 2026Both systems run side-by-side. Spot-check your migrated data and report anything that looks wrong before Cutover Day.
- Search for a sample of bulletins across case types, date ranges, and authors — verify fields, narratives, and photos are intact.
- Confirm distribution groups, agency contact lists, and agency settings look correct.
- If something is missing or wrong, this is the time to catch it.
What you should do: Spot-check your migrated bulletins and agency settings. Contact support@apbnet.org with any issues before July 1.
Cutover Day
July 1, 2026APBnet becomes the primary platform for all new activity. Legacy APBnet switches to read-only — you can still view and search existing bulletins, but you cannot create or edit them.
- All new bulletins must be created in APBnet from this point forward.
- Legacy APBnet remains accessible in read-only mode for 60 days.
- Your agency's IT Admin and User Admin configuration should be complete before this date.
What you should do: Transition all bulletin activity to APBnet. Any outstanding onboarding or account setup issues should be reported to support before July 1.
60-Day Legacy Access
July 1 – August 29, 2026Legacy APBnet remains accessible in read-only mode for 60 days after Cutover Day. Use this window to pull any reference material your agency needs.
- You can view, search, and download bulletins from legacy.
- You cannot create, edit, or distribute bulletins in legacy.
- All migrated data is already in APBnet — this is a safety net, not your primary system.
What you should do: Download or archive any legacy reference material before August 29. Nothing will be deleted from APBnet — but the legacy interface goes offline at the end of this window.
Legacy Sunset
August 30, 2026Legacy APBnet access ends. The legacy .NET desktop application and interface are decommissioned. APBnet is the sole operating platform.
- All data that was migrated remains in APBnet.
- Critical Reach support continues to be available for any post-migration follow-up.
What you should do: Nothing — you're already there.
